Interact Arts has always had a strong focus on music within the program. Whether it be live music performance, recording, music therapy or organising music festivals, music links well with our creative arts program and is a favourite of our artists and performers.

Many of our staff come from musical backgrounds and bring a wealth of skills and knowledge to the program, offering very real life musical experiences to our participants.

Currently our senior group run a karaoke session every week which culminates in an incredible end of year performance at the Abbotsford Convent theatre, the Rosina Auditorium. It’s full costume and full steam ahead!

The Empires

Our younger group operate a fully fledged garage rock band called The Empires. They IMG_8624rehearse weekly at Bakehouse Studios in Richmond, where they develop a number of songs with an aim to record and release them at the end of each year at an accompanying live show. Their most recent recording session was helmed by Simon Cotter who has work with such notables as Paul Kelly, The Meanies & Courtney Barnett. The band has also performed at a range of other shows and even run their own festival, 2012’s Arockolypse Festival.
